AFC's Top Adventure Games of 2013

"Adventure" games are kind of hard to classify. Are linear games still adventures? Do games with heavy emphasis on combat still qualify, or do they count as action games? For the purpose of this list, adventure games are ones which are more than shooters and hack n' slash games, whether they be sandbox experiences or simply linear games with an emphasis on plot and world building. So, without anymore stalling, here are the "adventure" games I found most worthy of praise this year.

And unlike Spike, I'm not giving a game top slot just because it let me drive a tank through LA.

AFC's Top Action Games of 2013

Last time on Atlanta Fried Critic Z, you were blown away and shocked speechless at the sheer magnitude of my choices for the Top RPGs of 2013. Will my choices for the action category be just as effective, or will they be painfully predictable and worthy of derision? Will you be swayed into playing any of them? Did you even fucking play The Wonderful 101, you filthy casual? Find out all that, and more, today on Atlanta Fried Critic Z!

But seriously, here are my best action games of the year. So yeah. Enjoy or whatever.

AFC's Top 5 RPGs of 2013

Well, this is an unconventional choice for my first Best Of 2013 list centered around games, but hey, this is my blog and I'll do things the way I want, thank you very fucking much. Role-playing games are something I hold near and dear to me, and thus, they're what I tend to play a lot of. There were a lot of stellar ones to choose from this year, and while it pains me to leave out some solid titles (such as Fire Emblem: Awakening, Ni no Kuni and Project X Zone), here are my picks for the Top 5 RPGs of 2013!

The Fried Critic's Favorite Movies of 2013

It's the end of the year, and that means it's high time for lists of "the best" movies, books, games, albums, and just about anything else you can think of. But really, isn't that just a matter of opinion? So, instead of holding things up to universal standards when fulfilling my contractual obligation to make lists as a person on the internet with opinions, I figured the best thing to do is instead look at what my favorite things this year were, and make lists based on that. Some of these are great things, and some of them are pretty iffy, but ones I enjoyed nonetheless.

So, let's jump right into the wonderful world of films, and see what I felt was worth paying to see this year!

Hidden Last-Gen Gems (Part Two)

You know the drill by now, if you caught the first part of this series. There were a ton of great games released last generation, but some of the best ones didn't get the attention they deserved. As such, I'm taking it upon myself to spread the good word about these awesome games, in hopes that people won't get too lost in the hype of eighth-gen AAA titles and forget to check these out. Without further ado, here's the second part of my top picks for the most unappreciated games of the last generation.
